Hrithik Roshan backs Sonam Wangchuk’s NEET-UG protest, shares emotional video demanding justice for students: ‘This feels absolutely true’

The alleged irregularities surrounding the NEET-UG examination continue to trigger outrage across the country, with students demanding transparency and accountability. Ladakhi environmentalist and activist Sonam Wangchuk has remained at the forefront of the movement, and his indefinite hunger strike entered its 20th day on July 17. As voices of support continue to grow, actor Hrithik Roshan has now joined the list of celebrities standing in solidarity with the protest.

Hrithik Roshan reflects on his experience from ‘Super 30’

Known for portraying educator Anand Kumar in ‘Super 30’, Hrithik Roshan took to social media to repost an emotional video of Sonam Wangchuk. Along with the clip, the actor shared a heartfelt note recalling how playing a teacher changed his perspective on the emotional burden carried by students.”This feels absolutely true. When I played the role of a teacher in one of my films, I got the opportunity to understand closely the kind of mental stress and trauma our students go through,” Hrithik wrote. The actor’s role in ‘Super 30’ explored the struggles of students from underprivileged backgrounds preparing for the IIT entrance examination. The film highlighted the academic pressure, financial hardships and emotional challenges that many aspirants face, making Hrithik’s support for the ongoing NEET-UG issue particularly meaningful.

Wangchuk raises concerns over students’ future

In the video shared by Hrithik, Sonam Wangchuk is seen lying on a bed, appearing physically weak as he continues his indefinite fast. Speaking directly to the public, he questioned the silence surrounding the issue.”When will you wake up? Around 20 young students have already lost their lives. These children dedicate years of their lives preparing for these examinations, only to discover that the exams were leaked or fixed,” Wangchuk said.He further cautioned that the consequences of examination malpractice extend far beyond individual students. According to him, if those who cheat in medical entrance tests eventually become doctors, they will be responsible for treating future generations. He argued that the same concern applies to engineers and other professionals, stressing that remaining silent today could have long-term consequences for society.

More celebrities rally behind the movement

The movement led by Sonam Wangchuk has steadily gained support from several personalities from the entertainment industry. Hrithik Roshan’s endorsement, especially given his connection with ‘Super 30’, has added further momentum to the campaign, with his post generating widespread discussion across social media platforms.
