‘Ananthan Kaadu’ producer denies cheating allegations against Arya

'Ananthan Kaadu' row: Producer Vinod Kumar denies 1.80 crore cheating allegations against Arya, calls complaint 'false propaganda'

Producer Vinod Kumar has strongly fired back against the intense criminal allegations brought against himself and veteran actor Arya, officially designating a high-stakes Hyderabad police complaint as a targeted smear campaign designed to halt their new movie. The legal crisis erupted when camera equipment rental firm Taher Cine Tekniq lodged a formal complaint at the Jubilee Hills Police Station, claiming the filmmakers defaulted on a massive balance of over Rs. 1.80 crore for premium lenses and digital arrays used during production. Breaking his silence, Vinod Kumar labeled the move as calculated extortion stemming from a financial disagreement over an unreasonable payout mandate.

Producer Vinod Kumar dismisses allegations, calls complaint ‘baseless’

Responding to the accusations in an interaction with Deccan Chronicle, producer Vinod Kumar firmly denied all the allegations and called the complaint a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation. “The complaint is completely baseless and is false propaganda created by the camera company,” he said. Explaining the dispute, Vinod added, “This is only a financial disagreement between the company and me over an unreasonable demand. When I refused to accept their demand, they threatened to stop the release of the film.” He also defended Arya, saying, “The complaint filed against Arya is only meant to tarnish his image and has no truth in it.”

Court permitted the film’s release after the deposit of disputed amount

Vinod Kumar said he approached the Ernakulam Munsif Court to secure permission for the release of ‘Ananthan Kaadu.’ “The court heard the arguments of our counsel and directed me to deposit the disputed amount with the court. After the amount was deposited, the court granted permission for the release of the film on June 25, 2026,” he said. The producer further claimed, “After the release order, Taher Cine Tekniq filed another petition alleging that the documents submitted by us were fake. They also moved the Commercial Court in Hyderabad with similar claims that our documents were forged.”

Legal battle continues as payment dispute remains before courts

Stressing that the issue is now a legal matter, Vinod Kumar said, “The payment dispute is sub judice and is before the courts.” “The complaint is an attempt to put pressure on us through false allegations,” he said, denying the allegations of cheating and intimidation. Believing in the system, he stated that the issue would be settled by the courts through evidence. The case continues to receive media attention with ‘Ananthan Kaadu’ staying in the limelight amidst the legal tussle.
