The famed actor passed away on the morning of July 18, as confirmed by his representative. Deadline reported that the actor left for his heavenly abode in his home in Rancho Mirage. At the time of writing, no other details about his passing were shared with the public.

Who was Hal Williams?

With a legacy in acting spanning more than six decades, Hal Williams was a reckoning force in the entertainment industry. Over the course of his career, Williams had worked across various projects, which included television, film, and theatre. He was best known for his role as Officer Smitty Smith in the show ‘Sanford and Sons’. Hal also had more than 70 acting credits to his name, and in his early years was a popular face on TV shows and theatre programs.Over the years, he fondly recalled working on ‘Sanford and Sons’, citing that a lot of the comedic notes that the audience loved came to them during their rehearsal hours. While talking to WKYC in an old interview and recalling the same, the actor had shared that, “We did it in one time in rehearsal and the producers thought it was funny,” the actor recalled. “We did it in the first or second episode and it clicked. Some days, we would come to rehearsal, and they didn’t have anything solid. [So the producers would say,] ‘Go out, take a break for two hours, and bring us something back.’”Some of his other famous roles also include his stint on the shows ‘Private Benjamin’, ‘Guess Who’, ‘On the Rocks’, ‘Coby’, ‘The Sinbad Show’, ‘Flight’, ‘The Waltons,’ and many others.
