French prosecutors seek prison sentences and social media bans for streamers in Jean Pormanove case

French prosecutors have asked for prison sentences and social media bans for two streamers accused of taking part in violent and humiliating online broadcasts involving Jean Pormanove before his death. Streamers Owen Cenazandotti, known online as Naruto, and Safine Hamadi appeared in court in Nice, France, over videos streamed on Kick between 2023 and 2025. Prosecutors said the content showed repeated mistreatment and called it a serious issue rather than simple entertainment. A verdict in the case is expected on August 5.

French prosecutors demand jail time for Kick streamers over Jean Pormanove abuse allegations

During the trial, prosecutor Maud Marty asked the court to give Naruto a 30-month sentence, including 18 months suspended and one year to be served at home with electronic monitoring. She also requested a €30,000 fine for him. For Safine Hamadi, prosecutors requested an 18-month suspended sentence under probation along with a €15,000 fine. They also asked the court to stop both men from creating content on online platforms in the future.Marty told the court that the streams were not just one-time incidents but part of a repeated pattern. She described the broadcasts as a “system of human mistreatment” and said the violence became the main part of the content. The two streamers are facing charges including group violence, abuse of a vulnerable person, sharing violent footage, and encouraging violence or hatred. The case involves alleged attacks against Jean Pormanove, whose real name was Raphaël Graven, and another person known online as Coudoux. Prosecutors said the streams included acts such as slapping, kicking, hitting with objects, pulling hair, threats, and paintball attacks.Naruto defended the videos by saying they were staged entertainment and claimed they brought happiness to many viewers. He said they did not believe they were causing harm. Safine, however, told the court that he was not proud of his involvement.

Jean Pormanove’s death not part of current trial as investigations continue

Although the case is connected to Jean Pormanove, the current trial is not about whether Naruto or Safine caused his death.Pormanove died at the age of 46 on August 18, 2025, during a long Kick livestream that lasted more than 12 days. However, an autopsy reportedly found no evidence of a traumatic injury or another person being responsible for his death. Both streamers have said the actions shown in the videos were agreed upon and created for entertainment. Pormanove’s mother also defended them after his death, saying they had not mistreated her son and that they had helped him enjoy his life. The controversy continued after Kick removed the creators involved from the platform. Some members of their streaming group later appeared on other platforms with new broadcasts, leading to more investigations.French authorities also launched a separate investigation into these later streams and searched the group’s streaming location, taking computer equipment for examination. Another investigation is looking into Kick’s role, including how the platform handled the content and whether it took enough action. The final decision in the trial will determine whether Naruto and Safine receive the punishments requested by prosecutors.
