Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming project, ‘Ramayana’, is being termed as one of his most ambitious projects yet. The film has already created quite a lot of buzz online, and netizens have been sharing their excitement online about watching it in theatres. While the release date has been planned for later this year, did you know that Tiwari worked on the movie’s pre-production for more than 10 years?

Nitesh Tiwari worked on creating ‘Ramayana’ for over 10 years

The famed director started working on the film back in 2015, and over the years, put in a lot of work to create ‘Ramayana.’ A 2025 report from Times of India stated that Tiwari consulted Pandits and extensively studied the Vashisht Yoga Shastras to ensure that the film remains authentic to what has been written in historical records as much as possible. It was shared that the director worked on the script after thorough research to guarantee that the film is accurately done and the dialogues in the film also connect with the audience emotionally.

Trailer for ‘Ramayana’ to launch soon

Earlier reports from Variety India had suggested that the film’s trailer would be released on July 18; however, the team behind ‘Ramayana’ confirmed that the trailer will be launched at a much later date. They confirmed that the first trailer will be released at Comic Con on July 24. The captions from their social media posts read, “For thousands of years, the Ramayana has inspired generations through its timeless ideals of dharma, maryada, courage and compassion. Now, it begins a new journey. One of Bharat’s greatest civilisational epics, presented to the world at a scale never attempted before in Indian cinema.” A teaser clip has already made rounds online, showing fans a firsthand glimpse of the film.

Current cast lineup for ‘Ramayana’

Since the film was in development for the past 10 years, there have been multiple cast changes. As of right now, Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi have been confirmed to lead the film as Ram and Sita. Yash, who is currently prepping for the release of his next leading film ‘Toxic’, joined the project as Ravana, while Ravi Dubey has been cast as Lakshmana in the film. Rakul Preet Singh will play the role of Surpanakha and Kunal Kapoor will portray Lord Indra. Lastly, Sunny Deol has also joined the cast as Hanuman. Go to Source
