Connor Murphy cause of death: New details emerge after influencer's tragic death in Thailand

Fitness influencer Connor Murphy, 32, died in Thailand as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. Police said witnesses reported erratic behaviour before the incident, while investigators later recovered unused syringes and unidentified pills during a search. Murphy’s girlfriend denied seeing him use drugs. An autopsy and toxicology tests are underway to determine the official cause of death, as fans mourn the popular fitness creator.

American fitness influencer and YouTuber Connor Murphy has tragically passed away at the age of 32 after an incident in Thailand where he drowned and is now being investigated. The tragedy unfolded July 7 in Samut Prakan Province, with police, rescue divers and medical personnel taking part in an emergency operation. Authorities confirmed the death but investigators are still working to determine the circumstances of the incident and a full autopsy and toxicology tests are expected to provide more answers.

Connor Murphy cause of death: What authorities say happened in Thailand

According to Thai authorities, emergency responders were called to a luxury residential village in the Bang Phli district at around 3 p.m. local time after reports that a foreign man had entered a lake while behaving erratically.Police said rescue divers searched the water for roughly 30 minutes before recovering Murphy’s body about 20 metres from the edge of the pond. Officials reported that there were no signs of assault on the body. Investigators said a video recorded by a village employee allegedly showed Murphy experiencing what witnesses described as a psychotic episode before running toward the lake and entering the water. He reportedly swam into deeper sections of the lake before becoming exhausted. Onlookers were unable to reach him because the water was believed to be more than 10 metres deep. The body has been sent for a full forensic examination. Authorities are also conducting toxicology tests to establish whether any substances contributed to the incident.Additional details have emerged from the investigation. Security personnel at the residential community told police Murphy had arrived and left in a hired vehicle before returning. The driver allegedly refused an offer of 1,000 baht because of Murphy’s unusual behaviour.Witnesses further claimed Murphy knocked on a passing vehicle asking to be let inside before allegedly shouting and rolling on the road. Forensic doctors later noted injuries consistent with rolling on the ground rather than physical assault.Police also searched the property where Murphy had been staying. Investigators reportedly found two unused syringes inside his vehicle along with unidentified white pills in a waist bag. Authorities have not confirmed whether either item played any role in his death.Murphy’s girlfriend, who told investigators they had been together for about three years, said they had only resumed living together less than three months ago after previously living apart because of lifestyle differences. She stated that she never witnessed him using drugs during the time they shared a home.A homeowner who rented Murphy the residence also expressed shock after discovering the property reportedly covered in paint, including electrical appliances. According to the girlfriend, she was asleep when the damage allegedly occurred.

Who was Connor Murphy?

Murphy built a large online following through bodybuilding content, workout demonstrations and physique transformation videos. His athletic build and fitness advice helped him gain popularity across YouTube and other social media platforms.Around 2020 and 2021, however, his online content shifted noticeably. Instead of focusing mainly on training and nutrition, Murphy began posting about spirituality, meditation, extended fasting, personal awakening and psychedelic experiences. The change prompted growing concern among many followers, who questioned his well-being in comment sections and online forums. His death has since sparked an outpouring of tributes from fans who remembered both his early fitness career and his influence within the bodybuilding community.Authorities in Thailand have notified the U.S.Embassy and continue to investigate the case. Until the autopsy and toxicology findings are completed, officials have not announced a final cause of death beyond confirming that Murphy drowned. His sudden passing has left many unanswered questions while bringing renewed attention to the importance of mental health and personal wellbeing.
