Lissy returns to acting after 38 years; Reunites with Priyadarshan, alongside daughter Kalyani Priyadarshan; Says, ‘I’m overjoyed’
Veteran actress Lissy has returned to acting after a 38-year break by reuniting with filmmaker Priyadarshan for a new advertisement. The comeback marks her first project under Priyadarshan’s direction since their 1988 classic ‘Chithram’. The reunion with Priyadarshan also sparked nostalgia among movie lovers who remember the duo’s successful collaborations from the 1980s.Along with Lissy, it also features their daughter, actress Kalyani Priyadarshan. The mother-daughter duo shares screen space for the first time in a project directed by Priyadarshan. Veteran actor Prabhu Ganesan is also part of the advertisement.
Lissy shares emotional note about reuniting with Priyadarshan
Lissy announced the project by posting photographs from the shoot on Instagram.She wrote, “It’s been 38 years since I last worked with Priyettan, and I’m overjoyed to be working with him again! Our last film together was the iconic ‘Chitram.’ And the best part, I’m playing the reel mother to my real daughter Kalyani Priyadarsan in this ad film.”
Actress recalls nostalgic moments from the shoot
Lissy also shared how comfortable she felt while facing the camera again. She credited Priyadarshan for making the experience effortless and recalled a light-hearted exchange that took place during the shoot. She wrote, “When Abhilash, Priyettan’s executive director, asked if I was nervous on set after this many years, I said no, because Priyettan knows me inside out, from my best to my worst facial angles to make me look my best . ( Priyetan overheard this and quipped, ‘I know her best and worst behaviors too!’ ! ) On set it was nostalgia for me! I tried my best to hold my joyful tears! The whole shoot was a picnic spot.”Expressing gratitude, Lissy thanked the brand for giving her the opportunity to reunite with both Priyadarshan and Kalyani through the advertisement. She also reached out to her fans for their continued encouragement.She wrote, “I’m deeply gratefu for this incredible opportunity to work with both Priyettan and Kalyani. Earlier this year, reports claimed that the former couple had decided to reunite years after their separation.Priyadarshan later confirmed the reports during an interview with Mid-Day.
