‘Aamir must have respected his ex-wives so much for them to be comfortable about him moving on’

'Aamir Khan must have respected his ex-wives for them to be comfortable about him moving on,' says Farah Khan Ali about his equation with Reena Dutta, Kiran Rao ahead of his wedding with Gauri Spratt

Aamir Khan is set to tie the knot with girlfriend Gauri Spratt in Mumbai on July 5. While the actor made his relationship with Gauri official, last year on his birthday, he’s now set to take the next step. They will have an intimate wedding at his Bandra home through registered marriage, in the presence of his family and friends. Aamir has been married twice before. He married Reena Dutta on April 18, 1986, and the couple have two children, Junaid Khan and Ira Khan. After 16 years of marriage, they divorced in December 2002. Aamir later married filmmaker Kiran Rao on December 28, 2005. They welcomed their son, Azad Rao Khan, through surrogacy in 2011. In July 2021, Aamir and Kiran announced that they were separating after nearly 16 years of marriage. Despite their divorce, the two have remained close friends and continue to co-parent Azad while also working together professionally. The ‘Lagaan’ actor has maintained a cordial relationship with both his ex-wives and has often admitted that they remain family to him. In a recent interview, jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali who is Sanjay Khan’s daughter and Sussanne Khan’s sister, opened up on this equation with exes. She spoke about how she is cordial with her ex-husband DJ Aqeel while one sees Sussanne bonding with ex-husband Hrithik Roshan and his girlfriend Saba Azad. Sussanne is currently in a relationship with Arslan Goni and they both hang out with Saba, Hrithik. Talking about this dynamic, Farah said in an interview with Vickey Lalwani, “I’m happy for Sussanne. I’m happy for Hrithik and Saba also. It’s important that people find people that make them happy. When we all get together, with everyone’s exes and everyone’s present. Society is amused about how we are so casual about it. But it’s not casual, it’s about having no animosity, having no baggage, no negativity. You’ve moved on so why shouldn’t you be happy for the person you have left. Why do you need someone else to suffer to be happy? Happiness is something which only grows when you make someone else happy, when you do something good for someone. It’s important to feel good about yourself. This made the host ask her about Aamir’s equation with his ex-wives. Recently, Aamir was spotted in the same car with Gauri and his ex-wives. Reacting to it, Farah said, “It’s so cool. Aamir is a cool dude. He must have respected each of his wives and their relationship so much for them to be so comfortable with him moving on with someone else. Every relationship that has respect, it gets easy for move on.” Aamir and Gauri will be getting married through the Special Marriage Act. The actor confirmed it and said that it’s not going to be a grand wedding and will only have families from both sides along with their friends.
