BREAKING: Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat floods disrupt life as heavy rains submerge cities live today

Heavy monsoon rainfall has triggered flood-like conditions across several parts of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, disrupting normal life and submerging low-lying areas. In Madhya Pradesh, districts including Katni, Harda, Barwani and Mandla have reported severe waterlogging after continuous rainfall. In Katni, heavy downpours have led to flood-like situations, with reports of a local bridge over the Bakunth River being washed away due to strong water flow. Several residential and low-lying areas have been submerged, forcing residents to wade through knee-deep water. In Mandla, rising water levels of the Narmada river system have caused concern, with rivers swelling beyond safe limits and surrounding areas placed under alert. Meanwhile, Barwani and Harda are also witnessing significant waterlogging, disrupting movement and daily activities. In Gujarat, similar conditions have been reported across multiple districts. Junagadh experienced intense rainfall over a short duration, turning several city areas into waterlogged zones. Streets in low-lying localities were submerged, making it difficult to distinguish between roads and drainage channels. Traffic movement on key routes such as the Mangrol–Porbandar highway was severely affected. In Rajkot, even a few hours of rain led to widespread flooding in several parts of the city, including market areas and bus stands, causing major disruption to public transport. Banaskantha and the Dang region also reported rising water levels due to continuous monsoon activity, with waterfalls and streams swelling and creating localized flood-like situations.
