Adam Sandler spent hours playing basketball in extreme heat before taking on the significant role of officiating Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3. The actor and comedian, 59, stepped out in New York City’s sweltering heatwave to shoot hoops, maintaining his signature casual style despite the challenging weather conditions.According to PEOPLE magazine, Sandler headed to N.Y.C’s basketball courts in his characteristic basketball shorts and a yellow T-shirt, seemingly unbothered by the 100-degree temperatures. The outlet confirmed that the couple selected Sandler to lead their wedding ceremony, with Swift’s representative sharing that “the ceremony joined both families together and was officiated by friend Adam Sandler.” Just a few hours before the evening’s main event, Sandler stepped out again to pick up coffees for his family as they prepared for Swift and Kelce’s wedding. He again stuck to his casual basketball attire of shorts and a T-shirt while guests began heading to the venue in black-tie formal wear.
Adam Sandler’s special role in the ceremony
Sandler was one of the few selected to stand with the couple during their wedding. Swift and Kelce chose not to have a traditional wedding party. Instead, Swift’s brother Austin served as her Man of Honour, and Kelce’s brother Jason was his Best Man, alongside Sandler.
