K. Bhagyaraj’s final wish successfully helps two individuals

Days after his demise, veteran director K. Bhagyaraj's final wish successfully helps two visually impaired individuals

Veteran filmmaker K. Bhagyaraj’s demise due to a heart attack on June 27 has left the Tamil film industry and his fans in deep shock. His sudden death shocked everyone as he had attended the wedding of actress Khushbu Sundar’s daughter in Goa a few days ago. Top stars Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and political leaders like Chief Minister Vijay and former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin were among those who paid their last respects. His passing was deeply felt, but his last wish has now become a meaningful source of hope for two families.

Bhagyaraj’s eye donation

According to Nakkheeran, Bhagyaraj had pledged to donate his eyes well before his death. Soon after he passed away, a team of doctors reached his residence and carefully retrieved both corneas for transplantation. According to the report, the medical personnel preserved the donated tissue and ensured it reached the right hands without wasting time.

Two recipients receive Bhagyaraj’s donated eyes

The report further says that the first eye was transplanted into a recipient on June 29, just two days after Bhagyaraj’s death. The second eye was successfully transplanted on July 2. Both procedures were completed after suitable recipients were identified, giving two visually impaired individuals a chance to regain their sight. These operations are a testament to the impact organ and tissue donation can have.

Bhagyaraj’s legacy beyond cinema

Bhagyaraj was hailed for his stupendous achievements as director, writer, actor, and narrator. Even after his death, the decision to donate his eyes continues to inspire many. His noble gesture not only helped two people regain their vision but also spread awareness about eye donation.
