Political tensions have escalated in Bihar over the police encounter of Bharat Tiwari, with Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav alleging that the operation was carried out with the approval of senior members of the state government. Meanwhile, the proposed Bahujan Mahapanchayat, scheduled for July 5, has been postponed. Addressing the media, Tejashwi Yadav questioned the circumstances surrounding Bharat Tiwari’s encounter, alleging that such an operation could not have taken place without the knowledge or approval of the state leadership. He also raised questions about the role of the Home Department and sought clarity on whether the Chief Minister was aware of the operation. These allegations have been denied by the government, and no official evidence has been presented to substantiate the claims. The controversy has intensified following the transfer of SDPO Rajesh Sharma, who had earlier been removed from his post after questions were raised over the encounter. While he was initially attached to the police headquarters, he has now been assigned to the Prohibition Department, prompting the opposition to accuse the government of attempting to shield officials instead of ensuring accountability. The issue has also sparked political debate after BJP leader Nagmani defended the encounter and claimed that the matter should be investigated thoroughly. He further made allegations regarding items allegedly recovered during the investigation, while emphasizing that the truth should emerge through a proper probe. Amid the growing political controversy, the Bahujan Mahapanchayat that was scheduled for July 5 to protest the government’s handling of the case has been postponed. The event had attracted attention after Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi announced his participation, leading to political discussions and criticism on social media. With opposition parties continuing to question the encounter and the government’s response, the Bharat Tiwari case remains a major political flashpoint in Bihar.
