Did makers of ‘Ramayana’ intentionally release unfinished VFX? Creator who visited the sets makes surprising claim: ‘They had better versions of those scenes’

A fresh claim surrounding Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious mythological epic ‘Ramayana’ has sparked online debate. Content creator Dhruv Parikshit, who recently attended a special creators’ event on the film’s set, alleged that the makers intentionally released a version of Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Rama glimpse featuring incomplete visual effects to generate online conversations and publicity.According to him, the strategy was aimed at creating buzz through audience discussions and criticism, resulting in what he described as “free marketing.”

Creator shares his interaction with the film’s VFX team

Following his visit, Dhruv posted photos and videos from the event on social media. Responding to a follower’s question about the visual effects, he initially stated that some of the footage shown during the visit was unfinished. He wrote, “Yes, it was incomplete. But the vision they have, I genuinely can’t put it into words. The scenes I witnessed there were on the level of ‘Avatar’. I’m not exaggerating, they’re truly cooking something wonderful. The character designs and the world of ‘Ramayana’ feel incredibly immersive.”He further claimed to have spoken with a VFX artist associated with the project, adding, “I also got a chance to talk to one of their VFX artists. He told me that the creators deliberately uploaded a nerfed version of the Rama glimpse. They had better versions of those scenes, yet they intentionally chose to release the incomplete one. Why? Because discussions and criticism across the internet translate into free marketing.”

Original comment removed after going viral

Soon after, Dhruv deleted his original comment and replaced it with a clarification. He explained that work on the visual effects was progressing well and praised the scale of the film.”VFX pe kaam chal raha hai, and kaafi accha kaam ho bhi Gaya hai. Humko kuch incomplete footages bhi dikhaye the and i believe vo already complete ho chuke hain mahino pahle hi. And bhai, character designs!! They’re gorgeous! They’re absolutely wonderful. It is more like a very beautiful fantasy world, but in an Indian setting. It is going to be a great theatrical experience,” he wrote.Despite the clarification, screenshots of his earlier remarks quickly spread across social media, fuelling speculation about the film’s promotional strategy.

Do you think releasing unfinished footage is an effective marketing strategy?

‘Ramayana’ teaser had divided audiences

Earlier this year, the makers unveiled the first glimpse of ‘Ramayana’, introducing Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. While many appreciated the teaser’s scale and cinematic ambition, others criticised portions of the VFX, CGI and the appearance of certain rakshasa characters. The production team later assured audiences that the visual effects would continue to be refined before the film’s theatrical release.

Star-studded cast and release plan

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ features Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey and Sunny Deol in pivotal roles. The first installment is slated for a theatrical release ahead of Diwali 2026, while the second part is expected to arrive in cinemas in 2027. Go to Source
