Flag-Off: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flags off the first convoy at 4:00 AM.

The 57-day Amarnath Yatra has begun with the first batch of pilgrims departing from Bhagwati Nagar Camp in Jammu under strict security. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the convoy at 4:00 AM, while pilgrims travelling through the Baltal and Pahalgam routes are expected to reach the holy cave for darshan on July 3 and July 4, respectively. The Jammu and Kashmir administration, the Amarnath Shrine Board, and security agencies have made extensive preparations to ensure a safe pilgrimage. Around 70,000 additional security personnel, including the Indian Army, CRPF, BSF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police, have been deployed, supported by drone surveillance and enhanced highway security. Some devotees at the Pahalgam base camp reported confusion over registration and RFID procedures, with a few groups receiving incomplete registration details. Despite these issues, pilgrims from across India expressed strong faith in the security forces and enthusiasm for the pilgrimage. Many first-time visitors said they felt safe and were eager to seek the blessings of Baba Barfani, as chants of “Har Har Mahadev” echoed throughout the camps.
