Kevin Spacey on returning to Hollywood after sexual assault cases

Kevin Spacey on sexual assault charges and return to Hollywood: ‘I never said there was no fire’

Kevin Spacey talks about returning to films after alleged sexual assault cases.

TRIGGER WARNING: This article includes references to sexual abuse.Kevin Spacey has been in hot water for the past few years or so because of the alleged sexual assault cases that had been filed against him. Following the controversy, Hollywood essentially boycotted Spacey for the time being; however, the actor is set on making a comeback. In a recent interview, Spacey opened up about the allegations and how he feels that he is making a comeback to the industry.

Kevin Spacey talks about being accepted back into Hollywood

While in conversation with Bill Maher on the ‘Club Random’ podcast, Spacey weighed in on the sexual assault cases that have been reported about him, and how they had derailed his career in Hollywood at the time. Following the brief time period when he was not seeing any new projects because of the controversy, Spacey has said that he seems to be exiting that slump. He shared, “I feel much more welcomed, and I think that things are moving in the direction that we hoped they were moving in.” As for the alleged assault cases filed against him, the actor revealed that the court ruled in his favour on almost every count when they went before a jury. He further added, “There are certain cases where part of something is true, but it’s been rethought, it’s been redesigned, or it’s been entirely made up, certainly in the case of Anthony Rapp, which is a case that we won in federal court in New York.”

Kevin Spacey admits that there were times when he crossed a line

Anthony Rapp’s allegations about how the actor assaulted him when he was still a teenager were the first of many cases that came forward about him. During the interview, when Maher asked him about the matter and how there were too many cases, Spacey admitted that there had been times where he had crossed a line. He added, “I never said there was no fire. It just wasn’t a raging forest fire. It was a small kitchen fire that could have been put out with an extinguisher.”Furthermore, he shared that he has “paid a lot” for his actions for the past 9 to 10 years. “When people actually start to hear the facts, understand what we won in courts, I think people now look at this and think, maybe nine years has been enough”, he further explained.Over the years, as soon as the allegations came to light, the actor faced a lot of repercussions in the industry. This also included being fired from two of his biggest projects, ‘House of Cards’ and ‘All the Money in the World.’ He also lost out on other opportunities and even lost his home. However, slowly, the actor has started booking indie projects, which include ‘The Awakening’ and ‘Peter Five Eight.’DISCLAIMER: If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, assault, or abuse, please seek immediate help.
