Saudi Arabia’s State Security Presidency has announced the opening of military job applications for men in the General Investigations Sector at the rank of “First Soldier.” The application window runs from September 13 to 18, 2025, via the Absher Employment platform. The recruitment targets diploma holders in technical and administrative specializations, as part of a broader national effort to build security-focused capabilities.

Recruitment drive for “First Soldier” rank

In a move to boost national capabilities in key technical and administrative fields, the State Security Presidency has officially announced military job openings for male applicants in its General Investigations Sector. The positions are at the rank of “First Soldier” and are open to holders of diplomas across a wide array of specializations.The required specializations include:

  • Cybersecurity
  • Data science
  • Project management
  • Human resources
  • Computer science
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Security and safety
  • Office management
  • Languages and translation
  • Event management
  • Quality management
  • Tourism and hospitality
  • Risk and crisis management
  • And other related fields

  • Start Date: September 13, 2025
  • End Date: September 18, 2025
  • Platform: Applications are to be submitted through the Absher Employment platform, the official digital portal for government services in the Kingdom.

Role and mandate of the State Security Presidency

The Presidency of State Security is the primary authority overseeing all internal security affairs within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Established in 2017, it is directly linked to the Prime Minister and is headquartered in Riyadh.Its core responsibilities include:

  • Safeguarding the Kingdom’s internal security
  • Conducting financial investigations
  • Monitoring activities of extremist organizations
  • Coordinating counter-terrorism efforts
  • Preventing disruptions to public order and national safety

The Presidency functions in coordination with other national security sectors, ensuring unified strategies in combating domestic and transnational threats. It has been assigned the emergency and reporting number 990 for public communication.Military sectors under its authority: Following its separation from the Ministry of Interior, the Presidency now oversees five military sectors:

  1. General Directorate of Investigation
  2. Special Security Forces
  3. Special Emergency Forces
  4. Security Aviation
  5. General Administration of Technical Affairs

To enhance coordination and communication, the agency uses the dedicated number 990 for receiving reports and inquiries from the public.The Presidency is also Saudi Arabia’s official representative in the International Center for Targeting Terrorism Financing, which was founded in 2017 in partnership with the United States, with additional membership from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The Center is based in Riyadh, and it plays a key role in drying up sources of terrorism funding and improving intelligence cooperation with international allies. This positioning reflects the Presidency’s dual mandate, managing internal threats and participating in global counter-terrorism efforts through structured coordination and data exchange.

The Absher platform is the official digital interface of the Ministry of Interior (MOI), designed to streamline access to government services for citizens, residents, and visitors. Launched in 2010, Absher has grown into one of the Middle East’s leading e-government platforms, providing an integrated experience powered by modern technology, automation, and high-security protocols.Key aspects of Absher include:

  • Services for MOI sectors such as Passports, Traffic, and Civil Affairs
  • Expansion into additional automated services across various agencies
  • Support for both government entities and the private sector
