In a significant development in the alleged Ram Temple donation misappropriation case, Ram Temple Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and Trust member Anil Mishra have reportedly resigned following the registration of an FIR related to the alleged diversion of devotees’ donations. The resignations come after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) submitted its findings and an FIR was registered in connection with the alleged financial irregularities involving temple offerings. According to reports, both leaders have stepped down citing “moral responsibility.” The timing of the resignations has, however, sparked political debate. Critics have questioned why the resignations came only after the SIT investigation progressed and the FIR was filed, arguing that if the decision was based purely on moral grounds, it should have been taken immediately after allegations surfaced rather than after legal proceedings began. The development follows a strong warning from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who reiterated that no one would be spared if found guilty of misusing the faith and donations of devotees. The state government has maintained that the investigation will continue impartially and that all those found responsible, regardless of their position, will face legal action. Officials have also clarified that the FIR is not limited to specific individuals and includes provisions against “other unidentified persons,” indicating that the investigation remains open and could extend to additional suspects based on evidence gathered during the probe.
