'Obsession' star Inde Navarrette STRUGGLED to bag roles for 1.5 years; walked dogs, turned to streaming to pay rent

Actor Inde Navarrette is in hot demand after the box office success of her film ‘Obsession’. The star, who played the lead role in the horror-thriller, opened up about the challenges she faced between acting jobs.

Inde Navarrette on struggle to land roles

In an interview with Complex, the 25-year-old actress reflected on the months that went by without landing roles she had auditioned for. She said, “I was auditioning, I was doing everything, just nothing was sticking.”

Inde Navarrette on trying to make ends meet

Revealing how she made ends meet, she added, “I wanted to pay rent and I wanted to do things. So I was walking dogs, I was streaming, doing everything I could.” The actress explained that although she had always been committed to pursuing acting as a full-time job, her schedule while starring in ‘Superman & Lois’ often left little opportunity between seasons to explore other projects.While struggling to land roles, Navarrette turned to streaming. She said, “I loved streaming and watching and then I would have so much fun playing video games to the point where I was like, ‘I’m doing this by myself in my room. Why don’t I try?'” she said.She, however, went on to add, “I would still love to do it, but I don’t have time.”

‘Obsession’ box office success

The actress is currently riding high on the success of her film ‘Obsession’ which has reportedly crossed the USD 300 million mark at the worldwide box office. Directed by Curry Barker, the film was produced on an ultra-low budget of USD 750,000 and went on to score unprecedented commercial success, grossing over USD 337.1 million worldwide. With this, the film shattered box office records for independent genre films. It also holds the record for the most successful horror sleeper hits in cinema history.
