Chef reveals Virat’s strict diet after embracing vegetarianism inspired by Anushka

Celebrity chef reveals Virat Kohli's strict zero-fat diet after embracing vegetarianism inspired by Anushka Sharma: 'He loved Chhole Bhature but now...'

Virat Kohli is one of the fittest athletes in the world at the age of 37 and the cricketer has turned vegetarian under the influence of Anushka Sharma, thus they continue to set relationship goals. While fitness has always been a priority for the star cricketer, it was Anushka who inspired him to embrace vegetarianism, and he has often credited her for changing his outlook. In a recent interview, celebrity chef Arun Chauhan, who has worked with several top cricketers, recently shed light on the dietary discipline that helps Virat maintain peak fitness. Arun revealed that Virat’s eating habits were very different earlier in his career. Drawing comparisons with Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, whom Virat greatly admires, Arun said the cricketer now follows a strict regime aimed at maintaining a body with virtually zero fat.Recalling Virat’s food preferences from his younger days, Arun shared on Vaarun Tiwari’s podcast, , “He used to eat non-veg earlier. He loved Chole bhature and Rajma Chawal a lot. Even when he stayed at hotels, he mostly ate such dishes. He didn’t follow any diet strictly and used to eat absolutely anything. He was a complete foodie.”Arun revealed that Virat’s approach to food underwent a dramatic transformation over time. “He first became a vegetarian and then started adopting a slightly vegan lifestyle, giving up dairy products. Instead of paneer, he eats tofu. Besides, he eats salads, sprouts, pulses and English vegetables like lettuce,” Arun added.Although many fans often refer to Virat as a vegan, the cricketer himself clarified the matter in 2021. Taking to X, he wrote, “I never claimed to be vegan. Always maintained that I’m a vegetarian. Take a deep breath and eat your Veggies (if you want).”Over the years, Virat has openly spoken about how Anushka’s compassion for animals and her lifestyle choices influenced his own decision to give up meat. Anushka adopted vegetarianism in 2015, while Virat made the switch a few years later. In an interview with Vogue in 2020, Virat credited his wife for bringing positive changes into his life. “Anushka has given me a new lease on life. I was not the most understanding or balanced person before I met her. She has inspired me to be a better human being and I feel blessed to spend my life with the most amazing woman I know.” Explaining why he chose vegetarianism, he added, “Anushka has been a vegetarian for four years, while I turned to it two years ago for health reasons. I can never eat meat again because of her love for animals, it made me look at things differently.”Virat has since described the dietary shift as one of the best choices he has ever made. During an Instagram Live session, he reflected on the experience, saying, “It made me feel why I didn’t do it before,” the cricketer said.
