Ayodhya Donation Controversy: Senior Temple Official Questions Oversight, Calls for Full Transparency

The controversy surrounding alleged irregularities in the handling of donations at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has taken a significant turn after a senior figure associated with the temple’s administration expressed concern over the manner in which donation management procedures were implemented. Responding to questions about the ongoing investigation, the official described the situation as deeply troubling from an emotional and institutional standpoint, while emphasizing that any conclusions regarding wrongdoing must ultimately be determined through the proper investigative process. He acknowledged that public concerns are understandable given the faith and trust millions of devotees place in the temple and its donation system. The official revealed that he had reviewed internal operational guidelines that outlined strict procedures for handling donations, cash collections, jewelry, and other offerings. According to him, these guidelines mandated complete transparency, designated supervisory personnel, mandatory frisking of individuals entering and exiting sensitive areas, and comprehensive CCTV monitoring of all activities related to donation management. He argued that if these procedures had been implemented consistently and effectively, the kind of controversy currently under investigation would have been far less likely to emerge. The remarks have intensified scrutiny over whether existing safeguards were followed in practice and whether administrative lapses contributed to the current situation. The debate has also reignited questions about the professionalism of donation management systems at major religious institutions. Critics have raised concerns over record-keeping, surveillance retention, supervision mechanisms, and accountability measures associated with the handling of large volumes of public donations. Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) continues its probe into the matter, examining financial records, surveillance systems, operational protocols, and statements from individuals linked to temple administration. Authorities have maintained that the investigation remains ongoing and that any determination of responsibility will be based on evidence gathered during the inquiry. As the case unfolds, the focus is increasingly shifting toward transparency, governance standards, and the need for stronger institutional safeguards to protect public trust in one of India’s most prominent religious institutions.
