US President Donald Trump praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, saying India would continue to prosper under Modi’s leadership.
“As long as he is the leader, India is going to do very well,” Trump said during the meeting.
The US President also referred to Modi as an “angel” during their interaction.
Modi Appreciates Trump’s West Asia Efforts
During the talks, Prime Minister Modi acknowledged Trump’s efforts in West Asia and expressed hope for a lasting peace in the region.

“I appreciate your efforts towards progress in restoring peace in West Asia,” Modi said.
“We hope that a lasting peace will be established,” he added.
Focus On Maritime Security And Global Trade
Modi stressed the importance of ensuring Freedom of Navigation and underscored the need to keep critical maritime routes open.

“We all agree that keeping the Strait of Hormuz open is essential for the global economy,” he said.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the contribution of Indian seafarers to global maritime trade.
“You know that millions of Indian seafarers are serving across the world in maritime trade. I believe their safety is equally important,” Modi said.
Safety Of Seafarers Must Be Prioritised
Modi said India had made its fullest efforts in pursuit of peace and an agreement, while emphasising that the safety of seafarers should remain a priority.
“We have made our fullest efforts in the pursuit of peace for an agreement. The safety of seafarers will be ensured and will be given priority in this deal,” he said.
