BIG POLITICAL CLAIM: After Maharashtra, UP Buzz on SP Split as Rajbhar Sparks Fresh Controversy

A fresh wave of political speculation has emerged from Uttar Pradesh amid claims suggesting a possible internal rift within the Samajwadi Party, following similar reports of factional shifts in Maharashtra’s Shiv Sena (UBT). The controversy began after Uttar Pradesh minister Om Prakash Rajbhar made a series of strong assertions regarding the political stability of the Samajwadi Party. Rajbhar alleged that the Samajwadi Party could face internal fragmentation in the near future and went as far as claiming that discussions of political realignment were underway. He also suggested that senior party figures, including Ram Gopal Yadav, had allegedly communicated with Union Home Minister Amit Shah through a letter, a claim that has not been independently verified. The remarks come at a time when the Samajwadi Party, led by Akhilesh Yadav, remains a key opposition force in Uttar Pradesh politics, having secured a significant mandate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with 37 seats. Rajbhar’s comments have triggered strong political reactions, further intensifying the ongoing war of words between ruling and opposition camps in the state. In response, senior Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav dismissed the allegations outright, stating that there is no question of any split within the party. He termed the claims baseless and advised critics to focus on their own political affairs rather than speculate about internal matters of the SP. The exchange has added to the broader national political narrative, where recent reports of party realignments and factional tensions in other states have fueled speculation about similar developments in Uttar Pradesh. However, no concrete evidence has emerged to support claims of an impending split. As political rhetoric escalates, the situation remains firmly in the realm of claims and counterclaims, with both sides holding firm to their positions.
