RJ Balaji hits back at Tiruppur Subramaniam for ‘Karuppu’ remark

RJ Balaji hits back at Tiruppur Subramaniam, credits audience for the blockbuster success of 'Karuppu'

The Suriya-starrer ‘Karuppu,’ directed by RJ Balaji, has turned out to be one of the biggest hits of the year. The film crossed the Rs 300 crore mark at the global box office, leaving the makers delighted. But the movie was a huge box office hit and impressed everyone, in spite of the many hurdles it had to face before its release. The success that this movie enjoyed in theaters was further boosted by its highly successful online streaming release.

RJ Balaji responds to Tiruppur Subramaniam’s remarks

The success of ‘Karuppu’ recently sparked controversy after Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association president Tiruppur Subramaniam commented on the film’s release struggles. He claimed that apart from Suriya, no one from the film’s team came forward to help during the release issues and criticised RJ Balaji for posting an emotional video. Responding to these remarks while speaking to the media in Pollachi, RJ Balaji said, “I have been writing this film for more than three years.” He added that he had done everything possible for the project and noted that even the producer had questioned the criticism, asking, “Why are such statements being made?”

RJ Balaji stresses that audience approval is the ultimate

RJ Balaji stressed that he had promoted the film with complete honesty as both a director and actor. He pointed out that the producer, Suriya and the entire team are happy with the film’s performance. “The producer is happy. Suriya is happy. The entire team is happy,” he added. According to him, the true measure of success lies in audience acceptance. “What matters is that the people have liked the film,” he added, emphasising that public appreciation matters more than individual opinions.

Hard work pays off as ‘Karuppu’ delivers big returns

While acknowledging Tiruppur Subramaniam as a respected figure in the industry, RJ Balaji maintained that the team had already achieved the results they hoped for. He said the producers are satisfied with the returns and that years of hard work have finally paid off. For the filmmaker, the film’s success and the audience’s overwhelming response are the biggest rewards. As ‘Karuppu’ continues to be praised, the team certainly has good reasons to celebrate their exceptional journey.
