White House Trade Advisor Peter Navarro has compared BRICS nations to “vampires” and said they suck the blood of the US with their “unfair” trade practices.

Navarro’s remark came as the BRICS nations held a virtual meeting to discuss tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump.

Speaking at Steve Bannon’s War Room, Trump’s aide claimed BRICS nations cannot survive if they don’t sell to the US.

“None of these countries can survive if they sell to the US. When they sell it to the US, they are like vampires sucking our blood dry with their unfair trade practices. I don’t know how BRICS aligns, stays together because historically they hate each other,” he said.

The White House’s Trade Advisor also attacked India over high tariffs and said New Delhi will eventually come around for a deal with Washington. He also said it won’t end well for India if it aligns with Russia and China.

“India has Maharaja Tariffs. It has the highest tariffs against the US. India never bought Russian oil before Russia invaded Ukraine… The good news is we have got a great deal with the EU, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, and Indonesia. All these countries are working very closely with us once they realise they have been taking too much advantage and they need our markets. I think India must come around at some point. And if it doesn’t, it is lying down with Russia and China. That won’t end well for India,” he said.

Amid tense bilateral ties over the trade deal, US President Trump on Saturday appeared to have toned down his rhetoric on India.

After he announced that the US has lost India to Russia and China, Trump said India and the United States have a special relationship, and there is nothing to worry about.

“I will always be friends with Modi, he is a great Prime Minister… I get along very well with (Indian PM) Modi, as you know, he was here a couple of months ago, we went to the Rose Garden,” he said.

PM Modi also reached out to Trump, saying he deeply appreciates and fully reciprocates his sentiments and positive assessment of the bilateral ties.

“Deeply appreciate and fully reciprocate President Trump’s sentiments and positive assessment of our ties. India and the US have a very positive and forward-looking Comprehensive and Global Strategic Partnership,” PM Modi wrote on X.
