Breaking: Patliputra Station Erupts as Exam Aspirants Clash With Police Over Train Delays

A major disturbance broke out at Patliputra Railway Station in Patna after hundreds of examination candidates protested alleged train delays while traveling to appear for the Bihar Police Prohibition Department recruitment examination. The situation quickly escalated into violence, leading to clashes between protesters and security personnel, damage to railway property, and disruption of train operations. According to officials and eyewitnesses, candidates gathered at the station after learning that trains were running behind schedule. Frustration among the aspirants soon turned into anger, with protesters blocking railway tracks and demanding additional arrangements, including special trains to examination destinations. As the crowd grew larger, sections of the protesters allegedly resorted to vandalism and stone-pelting. Railway infrastructure, station property, and security personnel came under attack during the unrest. Several police officers, including senior officials, were reportedly injured while attempting to restore order. Authorities responded by deploying a heavy police presence, including railway police and district administration teams. Officials used public announcements to appeal for calm and negotiated with protesters. However, as tensions intensified, security forces reportedly carried out a baton charge, used tear gas shells, and fired warning shots in the air to disperse the crowd and regain control of the station premises. Senior police officials stated that trains for destinations such as Araria, Darbhanga, and Madhubani were already available and that many candidates had been boarding them normally. Officials further claimed that a group of around 300 to 400 individuals later occupied the tracks and insisted on additional special train services despite assurances from authorities regarding examination-related concerns. Following hours of unrest, the administration succeeded in restoring order. Railway operations are gradually returning to normal, while security forces remain deployed at the station as a precaution. Authorities are expected to investigate the violence and assess the full extent of the damage caused during the protest.
