Jackie reveals his daily routine, ‘8 hours for sleep, work, yourself’

Jackie Shroff reveals his daily routine, ‘8 hours for sleep, work and yourself’, and the one food he can't live without: 'I listen to my kids’

Veteran actor Jackie Shroff has always been known for his earthy wisdom, candid personality and simple lifestyle. In a recent conversation, the actor opened up about his daily routine, fitness habits, favourite sweets, Mumbai’s best vada pav spots and the simple meal that brings him the most happiness.Interestingly, Jackie admitted that despite often speaking about maintaining balance in life, he doesn’t always follow the ideal routine himself.

Jackie Shroff’s philosophy: 8 hours for sleep, work and yourself

When asked about his daily schedule, Jackie shared his simple philosophy for living a balanced life.”Twenty-four hours means eight hours for sleeping, eight hours for working and eight hours for yourself. In those eight hours, you should spend time with your parents, children, friends, work on your health and think creatively,” he told Curly Tales. However, the actor was quick to add that his own routine is far from perfect.”I tell people this, but I don’t follow it myself. If anyone follows my routine, they’ll be in trouble. I sleep for around six hours. Then I start working and only get a pillow again when the work is done. There is no fixed timing in my life,” he laughed.

Jackie Shroff admits he has a sweet tooth

Despite his fit appearance, Jackie confessed that he has a major weakness when it comes to sweets. “I’m very fond of sweets. When mango season arrives, I go all out. I eat so many mangoes that it feels like they’re growing out of my sides,” he joked. The actor even had a warning for fans.”Don’t follow me when it comes to sweets,” he said, before revealing some of his favourite desserts.According to Jackie, his list includes jalebi, gulab jamun, rasmalai, phirni, mawa cake, kheer and sheera.

Why Jackie Shroff listens to his children about fitness

Talking about health and exercise, Jackie said he works out because his children encourage him to do so.”People always say children should listen to their parents. But parents should also listen to their children. I listen to my kids and try to take care of my health,” he shared. The actor added that while he exercises regularly, fans shouldn’t copy his late-night sweet-eating habits.

Jackie Shroff’s favourite vada pav spots in Mumbai

As someone deeply connected to Mumbai, Jackie was also asked about the city’s best vada pav joints. The actor named several iconic locations, including spots near Capitol Cinema, Dadar station and Kirti College.Recalling a special memory, Jackie revealed that he once presented an award to a vada pav stall that was recognised among Mumbai’s best. However, when asked which vada pav he loves the most, Jackie had a surprising answer.”The best vada pav is the one I make at home,” he said.

Jackie Shroff swears by ginger water

During the chat, Jackie also spoke about a simple wellness habit he follows — drinking ginger water.Explaining the recipe, he suggested crushing fresh ginger, adding it to hot water and allowing it to steep before drinking.”It’s especially good after meals. But don’t overdo it. Have it once a day,” he advised.

The simple meal Jackie Shroff loves the most

Despite enjoying different foods, Jackie’s ultimate comfort meal remains incredibly simple.”My game is dal, rice and ghee,” he said. The actor explained that he prefers pure, high-quality ghee often brought by friends from villages. For Jackie, there is nothing more satisfying than a plate of dal, rice and good ghee, proving that even after decades of stardom, his tastes remain refreshingly simple.
