Ajay honestly confesses to feeling box-office nerves

'Thoda pressure mein sab hi aate hain': Ajay Devgn honestly confesses to feeling box-office nerves ahead of Dhamaal 4's release

At the Dhamaal 4 trailer launch, Ajay Devgn admitted that box-office pressure never really goes away, saying everyone feels nervous when a film is about to release. He also revealed that a sequel works only when audiences connect with its characters. Dhamaal 4 is set to release on July 10.

Ajay Devgn is all excited about the release of Dhamaal 4, the latest film in the popular franchise. At the trailer launch on Friday, the actor talked about why sequels are doing so well in Bollywood and why people love watching films that are part of a series. He also honestly admitted that even after so many years in the film industry, he still gets nervous before every film release.

Ajay Devgn admits he still feels nervous before every release

When the media asked Ajay at the trailer launch whether box-office pressure still affects him before a film’s release, the actor did not hesitate to give an honest answer. He said, “Thoda bahut toh rehta hai. Aapne itni mehnat ki hai toh film audience ko pasand aani chahiye aur chalni chahiye. Toh koshish toh yahi rehti hai ki film aisi banaye ki logon ko pasand aaye. Toh jab film release ho rahi hoti hai toh thoda pressure mein sab hi aate hain (There is always a little bit of pressure. When you have worked so hard on a film, you naturally want the audience to like it and for it to do well. The effort is always to make a film that people will enjoy. So when the film is about to be released, everyone feels a certain amount of pressure).”

Ajay Devgn reveals the secret behind a successful sequel

Ajay also shared his thoughts on what makes a sequel truly work, pointing out that it all comes down to how much the audience loves the characters. He said, “I think sequel tabhi work karta hai jab uske characters logon ko pasand aajaye. Chahe yeh (Dhamaal 4) le lijiye, Golmaal le lijiye. Woh characters ko naam se jaante hain. Ek baar characters ke saath audience jud jaati hai na toh we can take the story forward (I think a sequel works only when the audience connects with and likes its characters. Whether it’s this franchise or something like Golmaal, people know those characters by name. Once the audience forms a bond with the characters, we can continue taking the story forward).”

All about the Dhamaal franchise

The ‘Dhamaal’ journey began back in 2007 with the release of the original film, followed by its sequel ‘Double Dhamaal’ in 2011, which carried forward the beloved characters from the first installment. The third chapter, ‘Total Dhamaal’, marked Ajay Devgn’s entry into the franchise and was equally well received at the box office. With all three films having proved their mettle commercially, the much-awaited fourth installment is now all set to hit theatres on July 10.
