The pain of losing a son never left Bharathiraja

Speaking with Filmibeat, Radha Ravi said the loss of Bharathiraja’s son Manoj had a deep impact on the veteran filmmaker. He was quoted as saying, “After Manoj passed away, Bharathiraja was never the same. He struggled to come out of that pain. Losing a son at such a young age affected him deeply.” Radha Ravi further claimed that the director often worried about the young family his son had left behind. “He would feel sad thinking about Manoj’s wife and children. That thought stayed with him and caused him a lot of mental stress,” he said. According to Radha Ravi, the grief took a toll on Bharathiraja both emotionally and physically over the years.

Fans react as family matters come into public discussion

Radha Ravi also spoke about challenges within Bharathiraja’s family and said such situations are not uncommon. “Every family has its own problems. It doesn’t matter whether you are famous or not. These things happen everywhere,” he said. At the same time, he praised Bharathiraja’s contributions to cinema, adding, “He was a great creator, a generous person, and someone who changed Tamil cinema forever.” His remarks quickly drew mixed reactions online. Some people sympathised with the troubles that Bharathiraja might have faced, but other people felt family matters should be kept under wraps. Many of his fans have asked people to appreciate his amazing legacy and contribution to the Tamil film industry.
