US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested an Indian national in California who is wanted in Germany for attempted murder, according to a public statement from ICE San Francisco.The agency said 40-year-old Sandeep Singh was taken into custody in Fairfield, California, after entering US illegally from Mexico in 2023. He is currently being held in ICE detention while immigration proceedings continue, which will determine whether he will be deported.In a post shared on X, ICE San Francisco stated: “ICE San Francisco arrested illegal alien Sandeep Singh, 40, of India, in Fairfield, CA. Singh illegally entered the U.S. from Mexico in 2023. Singh is wanted in Germany for attempted murder. He is in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings.”Authorities have not publicly provided additional details about the German warrant or the underlying case.ICE has also detained several other Indian nationals in separate enforcement actions across the US in recent years, primarily involving individuals with prior criminal records or pending removal orders. He was taken into custody as part of enforcement operations targeting non-citizens with serious criminal histories, including allegations related to attempted murder and extortion. ICE stated that he was placed into removal proceedings based on his criminal record.California caseIn Los Angeles, California, ICE arrested Parminderpal Singh in early 2026. Authorities described him as an Indian citizen with a lengthy criminal history that included violent offenses such as robbery and assault-related charges. He was taken into immigration custody pending deportation proceedings.Pennsylvania caseIn Pennsylvania, Subramanyam “Subu” Vedam, an Indian-born man who had been in US since infancy, was previously convicted of first-degree murder in 1983 and served more than four decades in prison. After his conviction was overturned in 2025, ICE detained him again based on a prior deportation order tied to his earlier case. He remains in immigration custody pending further proceedings.
