Chinmay Mandlekar: ‘Log apna dimag ChatGPT ke pas girvi rakh dete hai’

Chinmay Mandlekar says using AI for help is fine, but ‘Kayi baar log apna dimag ChatGPT ke pas girvi rakh dete hai’ - Exclusive

Chinmay Mandlekar’s unfiltered view on AI

The debate around the use of AI in the creative domain takes a new turn every day. In our recent conversation with ETimes, actor-filmmaker Chinmay Mandlekar also shared his viewpoint on the use of AI. He acknowledged that it can be of great assistance; however, one must not rely on it completely.

Chinmay Mandlekar feels one should not let AI be the boss

While speaking with us, he said, “Till now, what I have seen of ChatGPT, it can be a good assistant. But we should be very aware that we do not let it be our boss.” He then added, “You can use ChatGPT to lighten the workload, par kayi baar log apna dimag ChatGPT ke pas girvi rakh dete hai.” (But sometimes people don’t use their minds when it comes to ChatGPT.) ‘Governor: The Silent Saviour’ director emphasised that “should not be the case.”

Chinmay Mandlekar draws the line of difference between the human brain and AI

“What the human brain can think and what the human brain can create can be out of the box. ChatGPT will create only what it knows,” he highlighted, drawing a clear line of distinction. He believes that people need to understand that AI “can be a brilliant assistant.” Pulling an anecdote from his personal experience, he continued, “I have tried using it for my writing purposes. It cannot create, but it can process very well and give you a good draft, maybe. But creation remains with humans until now.” “It all depends on how you use the technology. Atomic energy is a fantastic thing, whether you light up cities or whether you bomb cities. Same with AI,” he concluded.
