R Madhavan expresses gratitude after being honoured with Padma Shri

Actor R Madhavan is set to receive the prestigious Padmra Shri award in recognition of his contribution to Indian cinema. Recently , the pan-India actor shared his happiness and gratitude for the honour.

R Madhavan took to his Instagram stories and reposted a post from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Along with the post, he added folded hands emojis to express his respect and thankfulness on receiving the award.

Popularly known as “Maddy” the actor has appeared in over 1,200 television episodes and later made a successful transition to the cinema world. He acted in over 75 films in his career in Tamil, Hindi and other languages projects.He began acting in the early 1990’s and has earned a strong fan following since. His performance in multiple and different genre films have helped him become one of the most recognised actors in the country. In addition to it, he was appointed President of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Society in 2023.

Other awardees

Several well known names from India cinema will also receive Padma honours. Malayalam superstar Mammootty has been selected for the Padma Bhushan. Telugu cinema veteran Gadde has also been selected for the Padma Shri for his contribution to the film industry.India’s President Droupadi Murmu will present the Padma Awards to 65 distinguished personalities during the second Civil Investiture Ceremony on June 23.

On the work front, R Madhavan was last seen on the big screens in Aditya Dhar’s two part films, ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge,’ starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi among others.R Madhavan’s performance as Ajay Sanyal as the head of the Intelligence Bureau received high praise from the audience.
