Mammootty, R Madhavan, Satish Shah among film personalities to receive Padma Awards from President Droupadi Murmu on June 23

The second Civil Investiture Ceremony for this year’s Padma Awards will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 23, where President Droupadi Murmu will confer the country’s prestigious civilian honours on 65 distinguished personalities.The ceremony follows the first investiture held last month, during which 66 awardees were honoured. With a total of 131 Padma Awards approved this year, the remaining recipients will receive their awards in the second phase of the celebrations.

131 Padma Awards approved this year

The Padma Awards, announced annually on Republic Day, are among India’s highest civilian honours. This year, the President approved 131 awards, including five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri honours.The awards recognise exceptional contributions across various fields, including arts, literature, education, social work, medicine, public affairs, sports, science and engineering, trade and industry, and civil service.

Mammootty to receive Padma Bhushan

Among the most prominent names from the entertainment industry to be honoured on June 23 is Mammootty, who has been selected for the Padma Bhushan.A towering figure in Indian cinema, Mammootty has appeared in more than 400 films across multiple languages over a career spanning five decades. The Malayalam superstar is widely regarded as one of India’s finest actors and is also known for his philanthropic initiatives and support for social causes.

R Madhavan to be honoured with Padma Shri

Actor-filmmaker R Madhavan will be conferred with the Padma Shri.Popularly known as Maddy, Madhavan has enjoyed a successful career across television and cinema. Over the years, he has featured in more than 1,200 television episodes and around 75 films in Hindi, Tamil and other languages. Apart from acting, he has also ventured into agriculture, including organic hydroponic farming in Mumbai and maintaining a coconut farm in Tamil Nadu.

Satish Shah and Rajendra Prasad among other recipients

Veteran actor Satish Shah is also set to receive the Padma Shri. Celebrated for his work across theatre, television and films, Shah has entertained audiences for over four decades and remains one of the country’s most beloved comic performers.Joining him on the honours list is Telugu cinema veteran Rajendra Prasad, who has also been selected for the Padma Shri. With a career spanning more than 40 years, Rajendra Prasad has acted in over 286 films across six languages and is equally recognised for his charitable and humanitarian work.The June 23 ceremony will complete the conferment of this year’s Padma Awards, recognising some of the nation’s most accomplished personalities across diverse disciplines.
