Imtiaz Ali on AR Rahman’s Punjab debut and the film’s message

According to ANI, speaking to the media after the event, director Imtiaz Ali called the occasion a landmark moment. He noted that it was the first time AR Rahman had ever performed in Punjab. He said, “We are delighted to have the opportunity to come to Attari and to welcome A. R. Rahman to Punjab for the first time. An artist of such stature has never performed in Punjab before, and we are truly honoured by his presence.”Imtiaz also spoke about the significance of holding an event in connection with ‘Main Waapas Aaunga’, a film rooted in the history of the 1947 Partition. He added, “I am privileged to be a part of this troupe, and it is magical that this event is around Main Vaapas Aaunga, a film that originates from the making of the border during the Partition of 1947. Not only homes and lives were lost, but hearts were broken as well. We bring a message of love because, ultimately, only love sustains us.”
