Gunshots, screams and panic were captured on video after a mass shooting near a community festival in Toledo, Ohio in US, on Saturday, leaving at least 12 people injured, according to authorities. Two victims are reported to be in critical condition. The footage, widely shared on social media, shows festival-goers running for cover as gunfire erupts near the annual Old West End Festival. According to Toledo Police, officers responded to reports of a shooting near the festival at around 5.30 pm local time and found multiple victims with gunshot wounds. Several injured people were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.Authorities believe there may have been more than one shooter involved in the incident. “It appears as though there were at least two shooters, I think they were probably shooting at each other,” Toledo Deputy Police Chief Joe Heffernan said during a briefing. No suspects had been taken into custody as of Saturday night, and the investigation remains ongoing. The shooting occurred near the Old West End Festival, a two-day community event in Toledo’s historic district that features live music, food vendors, shopping and home tours. Witnesses reported hearing multiple rounds of gunfire before crowds began fleeing the area. Kevin Berry, who was attending the festival, told media outlets that people immediately dropped to the ground after shots were fired.Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said summer festivals should remain safe spaces for families and expressed confidence that law enforcement would identify those responsible. The incident is among more than 170 mass shootings recorded in the United States this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which defines a mass shooting as an incident in which four or more people are shot.
