HIGH ALERT IN GHAZIABAD: Surya Murder Case Sparks Tension in Khoda on First Friday After Encounter

Tension gripped the Khoda area of Ghaziabad on Friday amid heightened security arrangements following the Surya murder case, which has already seen a series of violent developments, including a killing, unrest, and a police encounter. Authorities have deployed heavy security ahead of the first Friday prayers after the encounter of the main accused, as the situation remains highly sensitive. According to officials, more than 1,000 security personnel, including local police, paramilitary forces, and specialized units, have been stationed across the area to ensure law and order. Drone surveillance is also being used to monitor movement and prevent any untoward incident during the day. The Surya Pratap Chauhan murder case dates back to May 28, when the 17-year-old was allegedly stabbed in the Khoda locality. He succumbed to his injuries the following day, triggering widespread unrest. Police later encountered and killed Asad, the prime accused who carried a reward of ₹1 lakh on his head, while his father Nawab and three associates were arrested in connection with the case. The situation has become more tense due to announcements by certain groups claiming they would oppose Friday prayers in the area. In response, police have placed several local leaders under preventive detention or house arrest to avoid escalation. Officials identified individuals associated with Hindu organizations, including Pinki Chaudhary and Sonu Sharma, among those restricted from movement as a precautionary measure. Authorities have also taken additional preventive steps in the region, including sealing certain madrasa premises and cutting off electricity connections, citing regulatory compliance issues such as lack of valid approvals. Police officials have stated that the priority is to ensure that Friday prayers proceed peacefully and without disruption. The administration continues to maintain strict vigilance in the area, with senior officers monitoring the situation closely as tensions remain high following the recent sequence of events.
