SC collegium recommends 10 new judges for three HCs

NEW DELHI: Supreme Court collegium led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has recommended names of 10 advocates and judicial officers for appointment as judges of high courts (HCs) in Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.The collegium, also comprising Justices Vikram Nath and J K Maheshwari, on Tuesday recommended names of six advocates — Raghavendra Seetharam Srivatsa, Hema Kulkarni, Subramanya Rangarao, Thadagavadi Prakash Vivekananda, Bakkeswara Pramod, and Hombe Gowda Shanthi Bhushan — to Union govt for appointment as judges of Karnataka HC.Names of three senior judicial officers — Chirag Bhanu Singh, Bhupesh Sharma and Yogesh Jaswal — were recommended for the appointment as judges of Himachal Pradesh HC. For Madhya Pradesh HC, the collegium recommended to the Centre advocate Amit Lahoti’s appointment as a judge. The names were selected by the collegium through a series of meetings and personal interviews with the candidates. tnn
