Ram Charan’s upcoming sports action drama is finally set to hit the big screens tomorrow, with the makers already planning special premiere shows tonight. As the film begins its theatrical run, let’s take a look at the reasons why you might be watching.

The ‘Rangasthalam’ connection

From the film’s posters, songs and trailer, it is already known that ‘Peddi’ is a village-based sports drama which has a rustic and rugged theme. In 2018, Ram Charan was seen in a similar fashion as he did in the critically acclaimed film, ‘Rangasthalam’ where he played the role of Chitti Babu who is simple and kind-hearted partially deaf villager living in the fictional village of Rangasthalam. The film is considered to be one of Ram Charan’s finest ever roles. Director ace filmmaker Sukumar, ‘Peddi’ director Buchi Babu Sana also contributed to the film’s screenplays and dialogues. Additionally, Sukumar, who is also the mentor of Buchi Babu Sana, is the co-producer of the upcoming film and remains a key figure in the film’s production.

Ram Charan in a sports action drama

We have seen Ram Charan marking his debut as a fierce and powerful young man, he has been in him a dual avatar, a biker race and a 17th-century warrior, a freedom fighter marking his way in these memorable roles. For ‘Peddi’ Ram Charan is gearing up for something new as he will be seen as a sports athlete in the upcoming village sports action drama, where he is expected to be seen as someone who fights for his people or the oppressed through the medium of sports. Ram Charan is seen as playing cricket, wrestling out himself in the ring and also seen as a professional athlete in sprinting races. For the film Ram Charan trained for over four months as a wrestler and built a muscular body. During the shoot, he also suffered multiple injuries.

Deeply emotional film with commercial and massy elements

With the large-scale production, high budget and star-studded film elements, ‘Peddi’ can be seen as just another commercial entertainer, makers have strongly suggested that the Ram Charan starrer has a strong emotional value. In an interview with PTI, Ram Charan shared that he feels the story will touch people from every age group. The actor said the film carries strong emotion, drama and inspiration till the end. In a conversation with Gulte, Buchi Babu Sana has also shared that the last 50 minutes of the film will be very emotional, shocking and deeply disturbing. He shared that audiences may walk out of theatres with a heavy heart after watching the ending. At the same time, he believes viewers will feel they watched a memorable film that stays with them for a long time.

‘Peddi’ with a star-studded cast

Apart from Ram Charan, ‘Peddi’ features a star-studded cast, including Janhvi Kapoor, who plays the female lead in the film. Her character, by the name Achiyyamma, is shown as a village-based, super energetic character with a playful vibe. Meanwhile, the film also includes Kannada veteran star Shiva Rajkumar in an important character, Gournaidu, who is seen as a man who looks like the chief of his group and has solid command. Another senior actor for the Telugu film industry, Jagapathi Babu, plays the character Appalasoori. He looks to be playing an aged character from the village. He keeps an intense and angry look on his face, wearing glasses. ‘Mirzapur’ fame Divyenndu is seen as Rambujji, who seems to be playing a gray character and the film also features Boman Irani and Ravi Kishan are seen making special appearances.

AR Rahman’s music

Apart from the strong cast members, the ‘Peddi’ team also includes prominent technicians in the making. The music of the film is composed by the Oscar-winning AR Rahman. The released songs include the first cheerful and soulful single, ‘Chikiri Chikiri’ sung by Mohit Chauhan. Later, the makers also shared a mass dance number called ‘Rai Rai Raa Raa’ sung by AR Rahman himself. The makers also released the film’s special song, ‘Hellallallo’ featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Shruti Haasan together with Ram Charan. Later they released another thumping song, ‘Massa Massa Song’ to which Vishal Mishra added his vocals. All four tracks have received a good response from the audience ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on June 4, 2026. Go to Source
