Lokah: Chapter 1-Chandra’ mints Rs 1.25 crore in Hindi

Dulquer Salmaan’s 'Lokah: Chapter 1-Chandra' mints Rs 1.25 crore in Hindi over first weekend

Dulquer Salmaan’s production, Lokah: Chapter 1-Chandra, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, has garnered significant attention, earning Rs 82.6 crore across languages, with Malayalam leading at Rs 63.2 crore. Initially released in Malayalam, it expanded to Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi due to overwhelming response. While Southern versions thrived, the Hindi release showed slower growth, highlighting potential limitations for South-based stories.

After having cemented himself as one of the most exciting actors in the country, Dulquer Salmaan is setting his sights on giving a new and unique story to the world as a producer. His latest release Lokah: Chapter 1-Chandra starring Kalyani Priyadarshan has been getting a lot of attention and critical box office collection. The film which released on 28th August has already minted Rs 82.6 crore across languages with Malayalam being the engine contributing Rs 63.2 crore to the total collection. The film first exclusively opened only in Malayalam language and on second day it was released in Telugu and on the third day was released in Tamil. The response was so overwhelming that it prompted makers to also add a Hindi release for the film. The film was eventually released in Hindi on 4th September , one full week after its original release. The film has grown in numbers over the weekend but it is still not as big one one would have expected them to be based on how the Tamil and Telugu versions picked up over their release. On Thursday, but the magic happened on Saturday where it saw 100 % jump to Rs 40 lakh and on Sunday the film minted its highest collection of Rs 50 lakh. Thus taking the overall Hindi collection of the film to Rs 1.25 crore. As of now Tamil version has contributed Rs 7.4 crore and Telugu version has contributed Rs 10.75crore. The distinction between southern languages and Hindi language showcases the limitations of certain south based stories for Hindi speaking audiences. But it would be interesting to see if the film picks up over the weekend. The film is a part of 5 installment series with Chandra setting up the stage for a Universe to unfold in years to come. The film also features established names like Naslen and Tovino Thomas in key roles. And going by the push in southern languages one can expect the film to cross Rs 100 crore mark in weeks to come. The film has been competing with The Conjuring : Final Rites, Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4 and Vivek Agnihotri’s The Bengal Files.
