What netizens are thinking about ‘Obsession’

‘Obsession’: Netizens rave about Inde Navarrette and say, 'The real horror isn’t Nikki, it’s Bear'

‘Obsession’ is quickly taking over horror lovers and is possibly one of the highest-rated films in the genre as of right now. With the ongoing craze for the film, it appears that the movie will soon make and break big box office records. Many moviegoers have taken to social media to share their reviews of the film, with many raving about the horror and gore.

Fans and netizens rave about ‘Obsession’

Netizens have been raving about ‘Obsession’ and the lead stars, Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette’s acting skills on the big screen. Many people have commented on how great the gore scenes are in the film, and how a lot of the sequences filmed by Inde seem very unrealistic as well.

One person’s detailed post about the film read, “finished reading the obsession screenplay and Curry clarifies that when Nikki throws up on Bear, it is mostly stomach acid from lack of food, indicating further that she was so entrapped in “loving” Bear that she ignored the most basic human necessities.”

Another person praised Inde’s acting, referring to one of the scenes where she walks inhumanely behind Bear. The user wrote, “Dis s**** right here gave me goosebumps lol super creepy.” Another social media user added, “Just been t’cinema to see this. Its good. Inde Navarette is one hell of an actress. 8/10.”

Bear has become the new villain

Amid all this, many are commenting about one particular scene. Netizens have shared that a specific scene proves that neither Nikki nor the entity that took over was evil; however, it was Bear who was the true evil in the film.

The scene in question is when Nikki begs Bear to be released from the curse, only for him to look at her and ask, “What’s so wrong with being with me?” This one question sets off many fans online, who comment about how, even after everything that has happened, Bear did not want to let Nikki go because he wanted to be in control.Pointing at this theory, one fan explained, “The real horror of Obsession isn’t Nikki, it’s Bear, because Bear represents a kind of horror that is very real for so many women. Men whose ego, obsession, entitlement, and need for control can completely ruin your life and alter your future forever. He did not love Nikki; he just loved the idea of her and the fantasy of being chosen.”

Another person online shared their insight, adding, “Love how nobody understood that the true message of obsession is for men who idealise their crush to unrealistic levels. Bear didn’t love Nikki; he loved the idea of her. He didn’t know the real Nikki.” “Bear’s blind love for Nikki was his downfall,” the same netizen expressed.

More about Curry Barker’s ‘Obsession’

The film’s official synopsis reads, “After breaking the mysterious ‘One Wish Willow’ to win his crush’s heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price.”The psychological horror film is all about Bear finding a wishing willow. To get his crush to like him, he ends up using the magical object, not thinking twice about the repercussions that follow. What starts as something innocent and fun turns sinister as he realises that the girl he wanted to fall in love with is no longer the same person he knew from before. Go to Source
