El Sol de San Luis reported that Márquez was found by the authorities in an unresponsive state on May 30 by the authorities. Paramedics declared that she had already passed away before they reached the scene. Her demise was confirmed by her father, Hercules Márquez Balderas, in an emotional social media post.He posted a mirror selfie that his daughter had taken, along with edited-in angel wings, as he wrote in Spanish in the caption: “My treasure, my beautiful daughter Paola Márquez, has gone ahead of us. Today, a piece of my life left. May God have you and keep you safe in a beautiful place, my daughter. One day we will be together again. Rest in peace, my princess!” He shared another post on his account later, revealing that her funeral mass was held on June 1.As per the reports, the authorities are investigating the matter and are looking into the case as a probable suicide.

Under her father’s post, as well as her last social media update, which she had posted on May 29, fans and netizens alike shared their condolences with the family and expressed how shocked they were over the news. One person’s comment read, “I’m in shock, cousin; it can’t be true. Someone tell me it’s a lie (crying emoji and prayer hands emoji). My God, give me strength; I need it so much (crying emoji)”, while another shared, “What sad news; I’ve been following her since the very beginning.”“Sending you a big hug, cousin. I’m speechless. It’s really hard for the family. I’m telling you, I just went through the same thing with my brother Tavo. We’re grieving, cousin.
