Congress Member of Parliament Imran Masood has strongly criticized the Uttar Pradesh government, alleging a breakdown of law and order across the state. His comments come in the backdrop of several reported criminal incidents from districts including Ghazipur, Ghaziabad, and Meerut, which have recently drawn public and political attention. Masood claimed that the state’s law and order situation has deteriorated significantly and accused the government of failing to control rising crime. He alleged that criminal elements are operating with increased confidence and that extortion-related activities are becoming more visible in different parts of the state. Raising concerns over policing practices, the Congress leader questioned the effectiveness of enforcement measures, stating that crime cannot be controlled if it is viewed through any discriminatory lens. He emphasized that criminals should be treated strictly as offenders under the law, without bias, in order to restore order. Masood further alleged that incidents of extortion and gang-related violence indicate a deeper governance failure. He cited claims from affected families, including allegations of ransom demands linked to violent crimes, arguing that such developments reflect a serious breakdown of fear among criminal groups. He demanded stronger adherence to the rule of law and accountability in governance, stating that effective policing and equal application of law are essential to restoring public confidence. According to him, the core issue is not political narrative but enforcement of law and order on the ground.
