Saif reveals what would it take for him, Kareena to work together

Saif Ali Khan reveals what would it take for him and Kareena Kapoor to work together again: 'A murder mystery...something like that'

It has been over a decade since Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan last shared top billing on the big screen, and according to Saif, that distance has been entirely deliberate. In a recent conversation, the actor hasopened up about the surprising reason the couple keeps passing on joint scripts and the one kind of project, inspired by Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler, that might finally bring Saifeena back together.

Saif Ali Khan talks about why he has not featured with Kareena Kapoor Khan in recent years

For Saif Ali Khan, the core problem with acting alongside your spouse is not logistical; it is psychological. The very ease that makes a marriage work, he argued, is precisely what kills on-screen spark. “I think discomfort and conflict lead to good chemistry,” he explained in an interview with Variety India. He added, “Comfort and ease, especially if I’m more worried about her comfort – that’s not a good way to act.”He was equally frank about the competitive instinct that good acting demands. He shared, “I’ve always felt it’s very easy to offer something boring. There’s nothing as boring as a nice off-screen couple coming on screen together.” Saif added that he genuinely enjoys the routine of working with different people during the day and returning home to Kareena at night, a rhythm that keeps both the marriage and the work alive.

What it would take to feature Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan together

As for the project that could finally end their decade-long big screen hiatus, Saif Ali Khan is looking to Hollywood for a model. He said, “I keep thinking of that murder mystery which I saw Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler do,” referencing Netflix’s hit ‘Murder Mystery’ franchise. He added, “Husband and wife rekindling the excitement in their marriage through a murder mystery… that was kind of fun. So maybe there’s something out there like that.”Despite the careful conditions he sets, Saif left no doubt about the depth of his admiration for Kareena as a performer. He said, “It’ll be my honour,” he said warmly. “She’s a phenomenal actor and a phenomenal presence.”
