Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made a significant statement on the principles of non-violence and national security while addressing a gathering in Lucknow. Emphasizing the importance of peace, the Chief Minister said that non-violence should remain the highest ideal in normal circumstances. However, he added that when an individual or group becomes a threat to society, national security, or public order, decisive action becomes necessary. Referring to India’s ancient philosophical traditions, Yogi Adityanath cited the phrase “Ahimsa Paramo Dharma, Dharma Himsa Tathaiva Cha,” explaining that while non-violence is considered the supreme virtue, the protection of society and the nation is also a moral duty. He stated that when the safety and interests of the country are at stake, passive approaches may not be sufficient. The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of strength and preparedness, saying that weakness does not command respect and that a nation must be capable of defending itself against threats. He noted that India’s sages and cultural traditions have always promoted peace, but they have also recognized the necessity of taking firm action when required to protect righteousness and security. Yogi Adityanath further praised the role of the Indian armed forces, stating that they perform their duty with dedication and determination in safeguarding the country’s borders and interests. His remarks come amid his government’s continued emphasis on maintaining law and order and taking strict action against criminal activities and threats to public safety. The statement has drawn attention as it combines traditional philosophical teachings with contemporary discussions on governance, security, and national responsibility.
