The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has launched a coordinated crackdown across four Indian states, conducting raids at 12 locations in connection with a suspected cross-border arms smuggling network. The operation is currently underway in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Maharashtra, targeting individuals believed to be linked to the case. According to initial inputs, the case was registered earlier this year after intelligence agencies detected possible illegal movement of weapons across the international border. The investigation points toward a network allegedly involved in smuggling arms and supplying them within India through coordinated channels. The largest number of raids has been reported in Uttar Pradesh, where five locations are under search operations. In Rajasthan, two sites are being searched, while Bihar and Maharashtra each have two and three locations respectively under NIA scrutiny. Officials are collecting documents, digital devices, and other potential evidence that could help trace the broader network. The operation is part of a wider investigation aimed at identifying individuals and groups allegedly facilitating the illegal supply chain. Authorities suspect that the network may have cross-border links, making the case sensitive from a national security perspective. While the NIA has not officially disclosed detailed findings so far, sources indicate that the raids are based on actionable intelligence developed over several weeks. Further questioning and analysis of seized materials are expected to reveal more about the structure and reach of the suspected network. Security agencies are expected to intensify follow-up investigations in the coming days as new leads emerge from today’s searches.
