A major development has emerged from West Bengal where authorities have reportedly recovered a large sum of unaccounted cash during a raid conducted in connection with an ongoing investigation. According to reports, approximately ₹2.24 crore in cash was found from a field area linked to the Baduria municipality chairman, Deepankar Bhattacharya, following interrogation and a coordinated search operation. Officials stated that the action was taken based on specific intelligence inputs, leading to a surprise raid at locations connected to the accused. During the operation, police also seized a large quantity of relief materials stored at a party office, which were allegedly meant for public distribution but were found stockpiled instead. Preliminary questioning reportedly led to revelations regarding suspected illegal financial transactions, prompting further scrutiny into the source of the recovered cash. Investigators are now examining financial records, property details, and possible misuse of administrative influence. Authorities have intensified the probe to determine whether additional individuals or networks are involved in the alleged irregularities. The seized cash and materials have been taken into custody, and further legal action is expected based on forensic and financial analysis. The investigation is ongoing, and officials have not yet issued a final statement regarding arrests or charges in the case.
