Yash’s ‘Toxic’ targets Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer 2’ release slot

‘Toxic’ targets Rajinikanth's ‘Jailer 2’ release slot; Yash’s big-budget action drama eyes August release window

Fresh buzz from the South film industry suggests that the release calendar for two major pan-Indian films could change soon. Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer 2’ and Yash’s ‘Toxic’ are currently among the most awaited films in Indian cinema, and reports now hint at a possible reshuffle in their release plans. Industry circles believe ‘Toxic’ could take advantage of the situation if ‘Jailer 2’ moves away from its originally expected release window. Though no official announcement has been made yet, the discussion has already created excitement among fans and trade analysts.

‘Jailer 2’ may move to September

According to Cinema Express, ‘Jailer 2’, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, may no longer release on August 14 as initially expected. The makers are reportedly planning a September 11 release during the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday weekend. The festive period is considered a strong box office window across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. After the blockbuster success of ‘Jailer’, expectations for the sequel are extremely high, and the team is said to be carefully planning the release to maximize collections and screen count across markets instead of rushing the film into theatres.

‘Toxic’ could fill the vacant slot

If ‘Jailer 2’ indeed shifts to September, the vacant August slot could open the door for ‘Toxic’. The film, directed by Geetu Mohandas, has already faced multiple release delays. Earlier reports suggested release plans around March and June, but those dates did not materialize. Now, trade reports indicate that the makers are considering an August theatrical release. The timing could work strongly in favour of the film, especially with fans eagerly waiting to see Yash return to the big screen after the massive success of the ‘KGF’ franchise.

Fans await official confirmation from the makers

Both ‘Jailer 2’ and ‘Toxic’ carry huge expectations due to their scale and star power. ‘Toxic’ has been making waves due to the impressive action quotient and the rumored international release, while ‘Jailer 2’ is still one of the most-awaited sequels in the Indian film industry. Film fans have also been debating the rumored change in release dates for the two films and how it may affect box office earnings. Nevertheless, the makers have not yet announced the revised release date. Go to Source
