‘Karuppu’ becomes Suriya’s highest-grossing film ever in just 6 days

‘Karuppu’ becomes Suriya’s highest-grossing film ever; storms past Rs 200 crore worldwide in just 6 days

Suriya’s latest film ‘Karuppu’, directed by RJ Balaji, has been receiving a tremendous response from audiences in theatres. The action-comedy fantasy film stars Trisha Krishnan, Indrans, Natty Natraj, and several others in key roles, while Sai Abhyankkar composed the music. The film opened strongly at the box office and has now turned out to be one of the biggest hits in Suriya’s career. Fans have been calling it the actor’s long-awaited comeback film.

Suriya achieves a new career milestone in just one week

The makers have now officially announced that ‘Karuppu’ has crossed Rs 207 crore at the worldwide box office. Earlier, the film had collected Rs 147 crore within just three days of release. With this achievement, ‘Karuppu’ has become the first film in Suriya’s career to enter the Rs 200 crore club within a week. Reports also suggest that the movie has emerged as Suriya’s highest-grossing film in Kerala. Trade experts believe the collections may continue to grow in the coming days due to strong word-of-mouth and family audience support.

Suriya’s Karuppusamy role strikes an emotional chord

The movie is about a corrupt court involving corruption, crimes, and injustices. A poor man from Kerala seeks justice, resulting in divine intervention taking the shape of a human being. Suriya acts as a divine entity appearing in the disguise of a lawyer to seek justice. Emotional elements combined with action, fantasy, and comedy have made an impact on people. RJ Balaji’s performance as the antagonist Baby Kannan has also received praise from viewers.

Suriya’s upcoming films create huge buzz

Following the success of ‘Karuppu’, Suriya is currently working on ‘Viswanathan and Sons’, directed by Venky Atluri of ‘Vaathi’ and ‘Lucky Baskhar’ fame. The film is expected to hit theatres in July. After that, Suriya will also team up with Jithu Madhavan, who directed the Malayalam blockbuster ‘Aavesham’. With ‘Karuppu’ creating new box office records, expectations for Suriya’s upcoming projects have increased significantly among fans and trade circles. Go to Source
