A newly released dashcam video has captured Britney Spears’ March 4 DUI arrest in Ventura. The footage, reportedly obtained by TMZ, shows the singer interacting with police officers after being pulled over for allegedly driving erratically and swerving between lanes. Police also alleged that Spears admitted to having consumed one mimosa several hours earlier.Britney Spears gets handcuffed by police in DUI arrestSpears allegedly told officers, “I could probably drink four bottles of wine and take care of you. I’m an angel.”Authorities also claimed the singer claimed that she was a “zero” on the sobriety scale. According to the report, Spears additionally disclosed that she had taken Adderall, Prozac and Lamictal earlier that day.In the clip, the police were seen placing handcuffs on the singer, while placing her in the car. Police records indicate that Spears later registered below the legal limit on two breathalyser tests conducted at the station.Britney Spears enters plea deal with prosecutorsEarlier this month, Spears reportedly reached a plea deal with prosecutors under which the DUI charge was reduced to a “wet reckless” offence. The District Attorney’s Office said, “This DUI case will be handled according to our standard protocols. For defendants without a prior DUI history, a low blood alcohol level, and where there is no crash or injury, prosecutors typically offer what is known as a ‘wet reckless.’ This law allows a defendant to plead guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol and/or drugs.”As part of the agreement, Spears was reportedly sentenced to 12 months of probation and ordered not to possess drugs without a valid prescription.Britney Spears’ reps react to DUI arrestIn a statement issued to PEOPLE, a representative for Spears said, “This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.” The statement continued, “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”The arrest comes after several years of public personal and professional changes for the singer. In November 2021, Spears’ 13-year conservatorship was officially terminated. Reports also recently confirmed that the singer sold her music catalogue, though financial details were not publicly disclosed.Britney Spears checks into rehabFollowing the March arrest, Spears reportedly checked into a treatment facility in early April before leaving earlier this month. The singer has since resumed posting on social media. In a recent Instagram update, Spears shared photos from an outing with her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden, alongside a picture of herself holding a snake.“Went to the pet store with my kids and look at what a beautiful baby snake this is,” she wrote. “Snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck. I’m so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey… all a blessing in disguise (sic).”She also reflected on her emotional journey, writing, “I still have to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself. It’s a never ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up and say wow God I think that was you and smile on (sic).”
