Spoiler Alert: This article contains main plot details and spoilers for ‘Drishyam 3’. If you haven’t seen the film yet and wish to avoid spoilers, please stop reading now.Jeethu Joseph’s ‘Drishyam 3’ brings back Georgekutty, played by Mohanlal, for another emotionally intense chapter in the thriller franchise. The mystery drama takes place several years after the events of ‘Drishyam 2’. This time, the story focuses not only on external threats but also on Georgekutty’s growing emotional exhaustion and psychological fear.

Georgekutty’s transformation

Georgekutty is now a successful film producer. The film inspired by his own hidden past has become a huge commercial success. His family now enjoys financial stability and lives in a larger house. The film also opens with a shot from Georgekutty’s movie which stars actor Biju Menon’s character in the lead. The initial sequences show Georgekutty managing his production activities and being a new comer in the field, there are many things which he has to manage.Despite the outward success, Georgekutty continues to live in fear that the truth behind Varun’s death may eventually destroy his family forever.

Family tries to move forward

Rani, played by Meena, wants the family to finally move beyond their painful memories and begin a peaceful new chapter. Anu, played by Esther Anil, is shown as a far more mature and confident young woman compared to the earlier films. Her supportive dialogues to an intercaste marriage topic and the family’s reaction to it, shows how much mature Esther’s character has turned out to be in the third part.Meanwhile, Anju, portrayed by Ansiba Hassan, slowly recovers from her trauma through therapy and prepares for marriage.A major emotional thread in the story revolves around Georgekutty trying to arrange Anju’s marriage. However, rumours surrounding the old Varun case continue to damage the family’s reputation, causing several proposals to collapse.

Old enemies return with new plan

Later it is revealed in a shocking twist that Varun’s parents Geetha Prabhakar and Prabhakar, played by Asha Sharath and Siddique, continue to seek revenge.Another twist comes in when the former police officer Sahadevan, portrayed by Kalabhavan Shajohn, joins forces with them along with IG Thomas Bastin, played by Murali Gopy.Together, they carefully design a plan to frame Anju in a fabricated crime. Their true intention is to psychologically break Georgekutty and finally expose the truth behind Varun’s death.Although Georgekutty senses danger approaching, he struggles to fully understand the nature of the conspiracy. While Georgekutty was depicted as a man with a plan, in the previous installments, in this 3rd part, he seems to be someone who is finding out the traps laid on his path and covering it up at the same time.

Georgekutty makes another shocking decision

The climax takes a dramatic turn after the antagonists finally execute their plan against Anju.Georgekutty uncovers the conspiracy and once again makes a morally disturbing decision to protect his family. To save Anju legally, he manipulates the crime scene and even injures his own daughter in a non-fatal manner so she can appear as a victim instead of a suspect.Emotionally exhausted after years of fear, secrecy and survival, Georgekutty finally approaches Prabhakar with a shocking proposal.

Does the ending hint at ‘Drishyam 4’?

Towards the end Georgekutty offers to confess to Varun’s murder and accept imprisonment. However, he demands one condition in return — his family must never again be harassed.Georgekutty is eventually arrested, leaving his family devastated but temporarily safe. However, the final scene changes the emotional tone completely. When Prabhakar asks Geetha whether she is finally satisfied, she coldly reveals that she still wants Anju to suffer for her son’s death. The tail ending leaves the conflict unresolved and strongly hints that the danger surrounding Georgekutty’s family is not over yet and it surely opens doors to further installments.
