California hit-and-run: Indian man arrested by ICE after state releases him, 4-year-old victim expected to survive

Indian man, Aman Kumar, arrested by ICE after he was released by California in connection with a hit-and-run.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested an Indian man, Aman Kumar, who was charged with a hit-and-run case, was living in the US illegally and yet the California State released him from jail. Aman Kumar was arrested in April after he ran over a four-year-old boy in Fresno, California on April 28, 2026. He was arrested by the Fresno Sheriff’s Department the next day and charged with a felony hit and run: death or injury. The Department of Homeland Security claimed that the sanctuary politicians of California released the criminal illegal from jail but ICE, on May 13, arrested Kumar outside the California Superior Court, County of Fresno.”This monster who almost killed a 4-year-old boy has been charged with a felony hit and run,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “Sanctuary politicians in California released this criminal illegal alien from jail back onto the streets. Thanks to the brave men and women of ICE law enforcement, this criminal illegal alien was arrested outside a criminal court. DHS is calling on Governor Gavin Newsom and his fellow California sanctuary politicians to stop putting American lives at risk by releasing criminals into our communities to commit more crimes and hurt more innocent people. ” The DHS claimed that Kumar illegally entered the United States in California in 2023 and was released by the Biden Administration. The hit-and-run took place on April 28 at around 8pm. The four-year-old was playing at home on a swing set but wandered off onto the road that crossed his yard. Several drivers stopped to avoid hitting the child, but Kumar swerved into a bike lane in an attempt to bypass traffic and ultimately struck the victim. He briefly stopped and then sped away. The boy was hospitalized and is expected to survive.”ICE did what FPD couldn’t and put him back behind bars, he now faces immigration proceedings,” ICE said.
